Henry Bounameaux is a Bachelor of Law and a
Bachelor of Archaeology and Art History. This double training
led him to create a consultancy offering advice in art and
valuation assistance in 1993. The philosophy of this
consultancy consists in calling upon independent external
partners, depending on the complexity of the questions it has
to deal with. Henry Bounameaux’ academic career indeed
taught him that it is vain to claim to know everything and that
it is essential, on the contrary, to have access to information
and to have an efficient working method. As the years went by,
the BOUNAMEAUX consultancy has thus developed a network of
privileged relations with experts throughout the world, and it
is therefore able to meet most of the requests related to art
valuation, attribution, selling and buying advice, in total
confidentiality. In 2006, Henry Bounameaux was appointed
Chairman of the Belgian Chamber of Art Experts.
Parallel to his activities as an expert,
Henry Bounameaux teaches art market and art valuation at the
U.L.B. (Free University of Brussels) as Senior Lecturer, in the
framework of an interuniversity D.E.A. (post-graduate diploma)
in contemporary art. He is also Senior Lecturer in the National
College of Visual Arts/LA CAMBRE in Brussels.
As for the rest, Henry Bounameaux is
co-author of La Fiscalité des
Œuvres d’Art (The Taxation of Works of Art), which was published in 2004 by the Larcier
Publishing House. He is also the co-author of Contemporary Art in Belgium, which has been published every year since 2005.
